Dr. Pacheco received his MSc in Structural Engineering and PhD in Civil Engineering from Delft University of Technology. He is an expert in metallic corrosion, corrosion of steel reinforcement in concrete, service life modeling, and concrete degradation mechanisms.
In addition, he is in charge of the development of high performance and conventional concrete mixtures for construction, troubleshooting and assessment of concrete durability issues, and service life of concrete structures at CTLGroup. Prior to joining CTLGroup, Dr. Pacheco worked at The Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) in the Netherlands as a junior consultant on civil engineering projects. At CTLGroup, Dr. Pacheco lead and was involved in numerous consulting and R&D projects for the construction industry, including a comparison of available service life modeling platforms, and multi-year research projects for the Illinois Tollway and Wisconsin Department of Transportation that focused on development of new concrete mixtures, specifications and improvement of service life of bridge deck mixtures. Dr. Pacheco is an active member of the American Concrete Institute Committees 222, 365, 357 and 562, RILEM, the National Association of Corrosion Engineers, and the International Concrete Repair Institute.
