Top 10 Moments at The Big 5 Qatar
Packed with plenty of memorable moments, The Big 5 Qatar launch edition has been hailed a success! The event welcomed over 10,000 participants to the Doha Exhibition & Convention Centre and offered access to a wealth of outstanding speakers and exciting features designed to bring international business visitors closer to the Qatari market.
Here’s a selection of the 10 most impressive highlights from this year’s launch edition:
1. Ribbon cutting by H.E Mr Mohammed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi, Minister of Municipality
The Big 5 Qatar launch edition was officially inaugurated by His Excellency Mr Mohammed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi, Minister of Municipality on September 24, 2018. Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the minister toured the exhibition kicking-off three days of networking, learning, and business opportunities.
2. Announcing QR20bn infrastructure budget
On the sidelines of The Big 5 Qatar, His Excellency Mr Mohammed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi, Minister of Municipality announced that Qatari government is expected to allocate around QR20bn worth of funds to develop internal roads and areas surrounding the World Cup 2022 stadiums, as well as new cities.
3. Introducing international business to Qatar
In partnership with Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), The Big 5 Qatar hosted 16 buyers in Doha from Germany, Kuwait, Kenya, Lebanon, India, Morocco & Turkey. The buyers were introduced to Qatari construction SME’s and product manufacturers, promoting international business at the event.
4. International media tour major Doha projects
The Big 5 Qatar and Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) welcomed leading journalists to Doha throughout the event, where they visited major infrastructure developments Al Rayyan Stadium and Qatar Rail. The media from Russia, Germany, Turkey and Italy, have all they need to promote Qatar in their home countries.
5. Accessible Qatar Awards for our exhibitors
A team of experts from Accessible Qatar, a community initiative from Sasol, came to The Big 5 Qatar to nominate the top most accessible stands at the event. On the final day, certificates were awarded to Qalex, Smeet, Zebrano, and Chip International, who each met the top most accessibility standards.
6. 5000+ attend certified education
The Big 5 Qatar featured a total 36 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) certified and completely free-to-attend workshop sessions. Covering the most recent and important topics in the industry, the workshops welcomed over 5,000 visitors who each received certificates upon completion.
7. Women in the spotlight
For the first time in the country, The Big 5 Qatar launched the Women in Construction education series to highlight diversity and success stories of the Women pioneering the construction industry in Qatar. The series was made up of five sessions covering a wide range of construction related topics.
8. Pioneering technology improves business
Exhibitors at The Big 5 Qatar had access to a powerful lead collection app allowing them to capture client data on right on their smartphones throughout the event. Over 5,000 leads were generated and exhibitors coined it as a must have tool for the next edition of the show.
9. Visitors see products in action
An exciting feature at The Big 5 Qatar was the product demonstration sessions where visitors could compare and review products with technical experts live on the concourse at DECC. Throughout two days of the event, exhibitors took to the stage to show their products and support clients in their buying process.
